Prometheus 2.0
The exhibition Prometheus 2.0 brings together 35 artists with works of painting and photography, sculptures, installations, new media, performances and video art that address questions and concerns such as: How does poetic language meet the digital? Is the development of techno-science a liberating force or a constraint? Does the faster spread of information make for better communication and mutual understanding? Is there a Prometheus today? How does he “pass on the torch” of knowledge and light? Is he “Bound”? By whom?

The art historian Nicole Leventi comments: “Taking fire as their starting point, as the archetypal symbol of civilisation, the artists approach the theme by seeking contemporary figures or meanings of a Promethean nature, often in the age of the internet. Their works raise issues of revolution, freedom, self-punishment and self-destruction, knowledge and [over]information, and the management of technology and the internet.”
Curator: Kalliopi Liadi, visual artist and artistic adviser to the Programme.
